When we bought V, we made a to do list of the necessary projects and upgrades that needed to happen before we brought her up to San Francisco.
New seals for the sail drive
Replace the 30 year old seacocks (Changed the Seacocks in the head, and the Seacock under the V Berth)
New Flexofold Propellor ( original is a fixed prop)
Replace running rigging
Keel fairing
Name changing ceremony
The main projects needed the boat to be hauled out so we found a do it yourself yard a few minutes away from our slip.
Old prop
Shiny and New!
Removal of vinyl lettering. Heat gun and plastic scraper helped peel off the old lettering. Goof off and lots of rubbing helped remove the nasty adhesive.
Goodbye Lions Paw
We were slightly nervous as this was a very permanent project, but luckily the risk paid off.
The sink valve actually broke in half during removal.... Major project finished. FYI Seacocks are Andys nemesis.
-Boat yards are dirty
-There are many ways to do a project, but not every way is the right way. But again, there are pros and cons to every method.
-Andy becomes a mad scientist if he's left alone on a project and is not fed meals every couple hours.
-A project that you think will take an hour, will take a day.
-Owning a boat that needs work and is six hours away is very stressful.
